The Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) is the largest exhibition venue in the Middle East and possibly the most modern exhibition centre in the world. It was opened by the president of UAE and ruler of Abu Dhabi, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan in 2007. Since then, ADNEC welcomes over 1 million visitors every year.
In May 2010, ADNEC won the ‘Green’ Award at the Middle East Events Awards, illustrating their commitment to Abu Dhabi’s 2030 Vision.
“In 2009, Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre recycled 91.9 tonnes of cardboard cartons, 609 kilos of plastic and 52 kilos of cans. The recycling initiative corresponded to the conservation of 1,564 trees and preventing the consumption of 34,960 gallons of oil, 644,000 gallons of water, 368,000 kilowatts of energy and 276 cubic yards of landfill space that may have otherwise been used. Further, the use of intelligent lighting in certain areas of the venue also reduced energy consumption.” (www.adnec.ae)
ADNEC is situated in Abu Dhabi’s Diplomatic District, conveniently located 20 minutes from Abu Dhabi City Centre / Corniche, 15 minutes from the Abu Dhabi International Airport and 45 minutes from Jebel Ali, Dubai.
